Download and install a free TomTom splash screen
- Save the splash screen by right clicking and choosing either “Save link as” or “Save target as”
- If you have a TomTom ONE - Save the image as a 24-bit Bitmap file called “splash.bmp”
- If you have a ONE XL, or a TomTom GO - save the image as a 24-Bitmap file called “splashw.bmp”
- Connect your TomTom to your computer using the USB cable
- Open your TomTom “hard drive” using Finder (Mac) or My Computer (Windows)
- So that you don’t delete the original TomTom splash screen, you can rename it. The orignal is called either “splash.bmp” or “splashw.bmp”. Rename it to something to help you find it later (e.g. spash_original, splash1 etc.)
- Copy the image you have saved from the list below and save it into the same folder on your TomTom that the original was stored in.
- To test it, safely disconnect your TomTom and switch it off and back on again - your new splashscreen should greet you!
Create your own TomTom screen
- Select a photo or image you would like to have as your TomTom Splash screen.

- If you have a TomTom ONE - Save the image as a 24-bit Bitmap file called “splash.bmp”
- If you have a ONE XL, or a TomTom GO - save the image as a 24-Bitmap file called “splashw.bmp”
- Connect the TomTom to your computer (step 4 above) and follow the rest of the instructions above
